POPULAR LIBRARY

Popular Library was started in 1942 by Ned Pines and Leo Margulies. They brought with them a successful history of publishing newspapers, magazines and pulps. Early titles included mostly mysteries by popular authors such as: Cornell Woolrich and Craig Rice. All of the early covers were produced by H. Lawrence Hoffman. Later, all genres were introduced but their specialty remained mysteries with many westerns added. Their outstanding stable of artists included: Rudolph Belarski, Rafael DeSoto and Earle Bergey. Their vintage line continued into the early 1970's.
